iOS 6 being tested

The folks at Ars Technica  apparently identified over 300 visits to their site from a device running at 2048 x 1536 display resolution (similar to the rumoured next-gen iPad) and reportedly the next version of
Apple’s mobile operating system.

The publication combed through their server logs and found that a number of visits came from a device running on iOS6. There is also indication of an iOS 5.1 update and the current 5.0.1.

What’s more interesting, is that this traffic is coming straight from Apple’s IP block in Cupertino, which probably points to in-house testing rather than outside testers.

We doubt that we’ll see iOS 6 at next week’s iPad announcement – Cupertino prefers yearly release cycles tied in with the iPhone – but there is just a little bit more evidence out there that Apple is working on a new iOS and an iPad with a higher-resolution display is on the way.
